Lequia, NAMAYAN (15 November 2015) - The official Namayan News Agency reported on Sunday that an anti-government protest has started in the Namayan prefecture of Lequia.
The protest started on Sunday afternoon following a statement released by Timothy John Laranang, a former Namayan government official who has served as Rajah, Prime Minister and Lequia prefect. In his statement, Laranang said that he "can no longer cope with the lack of activity" in Namayan, and criticized the lack of vision of the government which has resulted to the inactivity within the government. He also declared that a blockade has been set up in San Pedro, Lequia prefecture, which is an enclave of Namayan within the Philippine province of Laguna, and that he might bring the protest to the prefecture's capital at Lequia City. He also demanded that the Namayan government grant him the right to set up an autonomous republic. The Namayan News Agency also reported that the Namayan government initially downplayed the anti-government protest but later made arrangements for a strong response to the tensions in Lequia prefecture. Zyper Zillamore Asuncion, the current Lequia prefect, announced that a red alert has been raised throughout the prefecture. Darwin Eugenio, a Namayan senator and the administrator of Lequia City, said that pro-government forces have been mobilized in case of anti-government movements in the city.
